Lays bricks or stones with mortar, and other construction material to repair building-walls, arches, floors, pillars and other structures as per requirement and instruction received. Dismantles masonry for reconstruction or facility of work. Does plastering, decoration pointing etc. Erects scaffolding. Paints walls. Replaces glasses, glazed tiles. Does anti termite treatment in building. Repairs and maintains sanitary and drainage works etc.
‘Building Maintenance Technician ’has a wide scope of Employability ranging from self-employment, contractual employment to infrastructure development industry. On successful completion of this course, the candidates shall be gainfully employed in the industries for following occupations:
Construction industries
- Practice and perform works as per the safety precaution on the shop floor.
- Construct brick wall 10, 20 & 30 cm. All types of bonds.
- Build stone masonry & ashlars and rubble masonry.
- Repair and finish cracks in old brick work and stone work.
- Perform pointing and plastering.
- Perform cement concrete and line concrete work.
- Make RCC lintel and arch of any span after making arrangement of centering.
- Construct floors of different types and repair defective work.
- Repair crack in various types of roofs to stop leakage.
- Paint wood/steel work.
- Whitewash or coat distemper and carry out colour washing of building.
- Measure, plan and construct false ceiling and lay wall paper.
- Replace broken glass of window, ventilator etc.
- Construct courses for damp proofing.
- Perform varnishing and polishing.
- Perform tiles work with vitrified and/or glazed tiles
- Perform Pipe cutting & joining and carry out plumbing and sanitary work.
