Repairs, services and overhauls diesel or oil engines for efficient performance as prime mover to drive different machineries and equipments. Examines engine by dismantling it for locating defects and for necessary repair/replacement and then reassemble it ensuring accuracy of fittings and performance as per specified standards. Checks, adjusts and lubricates engine periodically and performs such other functions to keep engine in good working order.
On successful completion of this course the candidates shall be gainfully employed as:
- 1. Mechanic of Diesel Engine, Oil Engine in Automobile Industries
- 2. Fitter of diesel or oil engines
- 3. Self-Employment
- 4. Instructor of Diesel Mechanic after doing CITS course under NCVT
Mechanic Diesel has a wide scope of Employability ranging from self-employment, contractual employment to Industrial jobs. On successful completion of this course, the candidates shall be gainfully employed in the industries for following occupations:
- Mechanic
- Diesel Engine.
Semester – I
- i. Check & perform Measuring & marking by using various Measuring & Marking tools (Vernier Callipers, Micrometre, Telescope gauges, Dial bore gauges, Dial indicators, straightedge, feeler gauge, thread pitch gauge, vacuum gauge, tire pressure gauge.)
- ii. Plan & perform basic fastening & fitting operation by using correct hand tools, Machine tools & equipment.
- iii. Trace and Test all Electrical & Electronic components & circuits and assemble circuit to ensure functionality of system.
- iv. Join components by using Arc & Gas welding.
- v. Trace & Test Hydraulic and Pneumatic components
- vi. Check & Interpret Vehicle Specification data and VIN. Select & operate various Service Station equipment.
Semester – II
- vii. Understand basics of engine types construction, working.
- viii. Dismantle & assemble of Diesel Engine from vehicle (LMV/HMV) along with other accessories (torqueing methods, handling parts).
- ix. Overhaul, service and testing Diesel Engine, its parts and check functionality.
- x. Trace, Test & Repair Cooling and Lubrication System of engine (types of coolants and oils relevant to the engines).
- xi. Trace & Test Intake and Exhaust system of engine.(cleaning egr valves, exhaust inlet valves, ports and manifolds)
- xii. Service Diesel Fuel System and check proper functionality (calibration of mechanical and electronic pumps, checking injectors, filters)
- xiii. Plan & overhaul the stationary engine and Governor and check functionality.
- xiv. Monitor emission of vehicle and execute different operation to obtain optimum pollution as per emission norms.
- xv. Carryout overhauling of Alternator and Starter Motor.
- xvi. Diagnose & rectify the defects in LMV/HMV to ensure functionality of vehicle
- xvii. Checking the condition of hoses, mounts, radiators and fans.
- xviii. Electronic control diagnostics of CR engines.
