During the one-year duration of “Industrial Painter” trade, a candidate is trained on professional skills& knowledge, Engineering Drawing, Workshop Calculation & Science and Employability skill related to job role. In addition to this a candidate is entrusted to undertake project work and extracurricular activities to build up confidence. The Broad components covered during the course are given below: -

The trainees will recognize and comply safe working practices with PPE and MSDS. They will also learn hazard and non-hazard items, uses of firefighting equipment. They will also go through the allied training on carpenter, welding, sheet metal work. Preparation of different types of wooden surface and painting on it. Knowledge of pipelines procedure and safety aspect. They will also practice graphics-stickers pasting, fixing, locking on wooden or metal surface.

The trainees will learn process of cleaning and painting on metal surface for preventive coating. Repair and maintenance of different pneumatics and paint gun. Practice on spray painting technique. Learn the aspect ratio mixing of paint, hardner and solvent. During the training they will also practice removal of dents and recover the damaged accidental area. They also practice on special effects for modern furniture. Operating system of powder coating technique and also quality test for various paints and painted films.

JOB ROLE

Painter, Industrial; applies paint, varnish and similar materials to building and other structure. Chooses the right paint or finish for the surface to be covered taking in to account durability, ease of handling, method of application and customers’ wishes. Prepares surface to be covered using scrappers, abrasives, and chemical removers so that paint adheres properly. Removes old coat by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning or watering and abrasive blasting. May wash surfaces and do trimming to remove dirt and grease from surfaces; fills holes and cracks; welds; sand-papers rough spots and brushes off dust. Applies primer on new surfaces for the finish coat. Mixes paint and matches colours by stirring together proper portions of pigments, oil, thinner etc. and other substances relying on knowledge of paint composition and colour harmony. Chooses the right paint applicator for each job, depending on the surface to be covered; characteristics of the finish and other factors. May use brush with soft tapered edge, or paint sprayer. Puts coating liquid in to spray gun tank, couples gun to air hose and adjusts air pressure valves and nozzles when working with sprayer.

The trainee shall be able to service cooling and lubrication systems, intake and exhaust systems, and fuel feed system, of the tractor. Practice in joining wires using soldering Iron, Construction of simple electrical circuits, Measuring of current, voltage and resistance using digital multimeter, practice continuity test for fuses, jumper wires, fusible links, circuit breakers.

Diagnose series, parallel, seriesparallel circuits using Ohm’s law, Check electrical circuit with a test lamp, perform voltage drop test in circuits using multimeter, measure current flow using multimeter /ammeter, use of service manual wiring diagram for troubleshooting.

Cleaning and topping up of a lead acid battery, Testing battery with hydrometer, Connecting battery to a charger for battery charging, Inspecting & testing a battery after charging, Measure and Diagnose the cause(s) of excessive Key-off battery drain (parasitic draw) and do corrective action. Testing of relay and solenoids and its circuit.

The practical skills are imparted in simple to complex manner & simultaneously theory subject is taught in the same fashion to apply cognitive knowledge while executing practical task.

The course broadly covers all aspect of Skills required to work in the field of Mechatronics.

FIRST YEAR: In this year, the practical part starts with basic fitting work to make job as per specification applying different types of basic Fitting and machining viz., Drilling, Turning, Milling and Grinding operations. The trainee will be able to Produce components by different operations and check accuracy using appropriate measuring instrument. Apply different fits for assembling of components as per required tolerance, observing principle of interchangeability and check for functionality. Produce components involving different operation on Lathe, Milling and Grinding machine observing standard procedure and check for accuracy. The candidates also learn about basic computer operation such as MS-Office and basic troubleshooting related to the computer. The welding and brazing are also covered during this year. The safety aspects cover components like OSH&E, PPE, Fire extinguisher, First Aid and in addition 5S of Kaizen is being taught.

The imparted training on basic Electrical and Electronics sub-systems and its measuring techniques using appropriate Measuring instruments, Operate and troubleshoot AC/DC machines and drives. Acquire the skill of reading and analyzing Electrical and Electronics drawings. Construct, analyze and troubleshoot Electrical and Electronic circuits. Assemble and Disassemble Electrical and Electronic components by Soldering and de-soldering techniques. Carry out Industrial panel wiring. Understand and troubleshoot Protective devices in Electrical system. Understand the Digital logic circuits and its applications. Acquire computer skills such as Software installation. Knowledge on basic programming of Microcontroller and its Interfacing techniques, troubleshooting of electrical & electronics system are also covered.

SECOND YEAR: Operates CNC turn centre and CNC milling machine to produce simple components. The trainee also gets knowledge of different sensors viz., inductive, capacitive, magnetic etc and carries out related practical on the same. The student understands the principles of hydraulics, the basic functions of hydraulic systems and the functions of valves (flow control, pressure control, directional control). Attain the skill of reading and analyzing Hydraulic and Pneumatic drawings. Recognize circuit symbols and diagrams to ISO 1219, construct basic hydraulic circuits as per drawings, understand and follow safe practice. Acquire the knowledge on the functions of power packs, pumps, filters and reservoirs. Understand the units and measurement scales associated with compressed air system. Understand the functioning of standard pneumatic cylinders and valves, read pneumatic circuit diagrams and understand Pneumatic symbols. Construct simple pneumatic controls as per drawing. Read, understand and analyze Electro-Pneumatic circuit diagrams, understand fundamental terminology and symbols of Electro-Pneumatic control, understand the function and operation of a range of proximity sensors, read, interpret and construct motion diagrams. Construct multi- cylinder control circuit. Fault diagnostics procedure and Troubleshooting of Hydraulics and Pneumatics sub-systems. Executes programming on PLC.

The Trainee gets awareness on Robotics and its application, the trainee will be able to develop, test and troubleshoot circuits using simulator software for Electrical, Electronics, Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems. During the one-year duration of “Welder (Pipe)” trade, a candidate is trained on Professional Skill, Professional Knowledge, Engineering Drawing, Workshop Calculation & Science and Employability Skill related to job role. In addition to this, a candidate is entrusted to undertake project work, extracurricular activities and on-the-job training to build up confidence. The broad components covered under Professional Skill subject are as below:-

In the one-year duration, trainee learns about elementary first aid, firefighting, environment regulation and housekeeping etc. The practical part starts with basic pipe work viz. cutting of pipes, threading, joining, etc. Cutting Pipes in different angles, joining of pipes of different diameter and angles by gas welding, thread cutting on different types of pipes & fittings accessories. On completion of each job the trainees will also evaluate their jobs by visual inspection, and identify the defects for further correction/improvement. They learn to adapt precautionary measures such as preheating; maintaining inter-pass temperature and post weld heat treatment for Welding Alloy steel, Cast Iron etc. The Work Shop calculation taught will help them to plan and cut the required jobs economically without wasting the material and also used in estimating the Electrodes, filler metals etc. The Workshop Science taught will help them to understand the materials and properties, effect of alloying elements etc. Engineering Drawing taught will be applied while reading the job drawings and will be useful in understanding the location, type and size of weld to be carried out.

Professional Knowledge subject is simultaneously taught in the same fashion to apply cognitive knowledge while executing task. In addition, components like Physical properties of engineering materials, different types of iron, properties and uses, introduction to GTAW & GMAW, Heat & Temperature are also covered under theory part.In addition to above components the core skills components viz., Workshop calculation & science, Engineering drawing, employability skills are also covered. These core skills are essential skills which are necessary to perform the job in any given situation.

In addition to this a candidate is entrusted to make/do project work and Extra Curricular Activities to build up confidence. The practical skills are imparted in simple to complex manner & simultaneously theory subject is taught in the same fashion to apply cognitive knowledge while executing task. The practical part starts with basic welding work viz. gas welding, arc gauging etc. and performing different testing methods viz. bend test, tensile test, impact test, dye penetrant inspection etc. The broad components covered under Professional Skill subject are as below:

The practical part starts with basic welding and the candidate is imparted training on viz., Welding (Gas & Arc), pipe joints, MS sheet / plate joints which leads to multi-skilling. The safety aspects cover components like OSH&E, PPE, Fire extinguisher, First Aid etc. Perform visual inspection of metal by using different methods like bend test, tensile test, hardness test, impact test etc. The learner does practical of surface defects inspection by dye penetrant inspection, sub surface inspection by magnetic particle testing method, interprets radiographic films of weldments and prepares reports after welding inspection.

Wireman, Light and Power installs various kinds of electrical wiring such as cleat, conduit, casing, concealed etc. in houses, factories, workshops and other establishments for light and power supply. Studies diagram and plan of wiring and marks light, power and other points accordingly. Fixes wooden pegs, sizes tubes, saws casings, etc. by common carpentry fitting and other processes, according to type of wiring needed. Erects switch boards and fixes switch box casings cleats, conduits ceiling roses, switches, meters etc. according to type and plan of wiring. Draws wire in two way or three-way wiring system as prescribed and makes electrical connections through plugs and switches to different points exercising great care for safety and avoiding short circuit and earthing at any stage of wiring. Fixes fuses and covers as per diagram and insulates all naked wires at diversions and junctions to eliminate chances of short circuit and earthing. Fits light brackets, holders, shades, tube and mercury lights, fans etc, and makes electrical connection as necessary. Tests checks installed wiring for leakage and continuity using megger, removes faults if any and certifies wiring as correct for connecting mains. Checks existing wiring for defects and restores current supply by replacing defective switches, plug sockets, blown fuse etc. or removing short circuits and faulty wiring as necessary. May repair simple electrical domestic appliances.
