To address the growing need for a digital workforce in the country, and in its commitment to strengthening the Skill India Mission, NSDC has joined hands with the esteemed California State University Long Beach. Over 200 courses on healthcare, management, information technology, finance, employability skills will be included and will range from 2 to 30 hours providing the total digital content of 900 hours.

To meet the fast-changing demands of the Indian job market, it is essential to map the outcomes of skill trainings and consistently formulate strategies that can meet the learning needs of tomorrow. One important aspect of skill development is the participation of women. Through its CSR models, NSDC invites industry partners to map the impact of digital learning in relation to women candidates and facilitate research to encourage female participation in the workforce by enhancing their skillsets. NSDC's Market Analytics, Impact and Innovation team shared their findings from the gender analysis of PMKVY 2.0 - Short-term training component. The BBL analysed and compared indicators at various stages of the skilling value chain – such as drop-out rates, failure rates and placement rates – for females and males. It also included analysis by age group, education, state, sector, and job role, and responded to questions such as:
• Is there a gender difference in outcomes at different stages in the skilling value chain?
• Does age group matter in gender outcomes?
family and fulfil her aspirations when she came across and enrolled in NSDC’s National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS). The apprenticeship gave her proper training and guidance and helped her define her career goals. Her hard work earned her a job at KFC. Jaspreet is now a confident, empowered, and proud breadwinner for her family, ready to conquer new challenges and climb new heights.
Gender inequality is a multi-dimensional issue. According to World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2020, it shall take 257 years to close the gender gap in the economy. Additionally, India ranks 112th in terms of economic gender parity, a slip from 108th position last year, and 1/3rd of the gap still needs to be closed. The situation demands a workable solution that addresses the cultural attitudes that socialize gender inequalities.
Cultivating a conducive ecosystem where youngsters can unleash their potential through skill development and emerge as agents of change is crucial to nation building. NSDC invites industry partners through our many CSR models to take forward our mission and help implement our goal of strengthening livelihood opportunities for underprivileged communities across the nation.
