This Course is a very important for future event planners / event organisers as it focuses on ‘Event Planning,’ on the basis of which an event can be made a success. Event opportunity assessment for understanding client’s objectives and needs, feasibility assessment of an event, bidding, and developing a winning event proposal, are crucial to event planning. An understanding of legal issues and contracts in the context of events is important, and so are risks and risk management process. 
 
The Course unfolds various aspects of event designing. It is very important for an event planner to design an event with unique elements, interspersing creativity and technology to generate the desired positive and meaningful consumer experience. Effective management of human resources starts with human resource planning process. The Course further provides knowledge on event logistics which is all about getting things organized, getting things and customers in the right place, and tearing everything down. Most of the time logistics planning focuses on setting up and changing sets. The logistics manager needs to plan the work flow to such a practical level that makes all its aspects feasible. Likewise entertainment elements when added into events make the event experience last long. Hence entertainment management process is important.

Prof. Heena K. Bijli

Indira Gandhi National Open University

Prof. Heena K. Bijli specializes in the area of Community Resource Management and Extension, and has done her Masters and PhD from Lady Irwin College, University of Delhi. Her academic career of 23 years has spanned across universities like the Aligarh Muslim University, University of Delhi, the SNDT Women’s University, S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research, and Jamia Millia Islamia. With her experience in Resource Management, focus on skill development for the youth and to promote lifelong learning, she has been the driver behind the launch of Diploma in Event Management at IGNOU. This Diploma provides skills for employment and for entrepreneurial opportunity in a country with a young population, raring to go. Prof. Bijli has also designed a Ph. D programme in Home Science (Community Resource Management and Extension) at IGNOU.
 
Prof. Bijli is an active resource person in the area of Resource Mobilisation, Extension Education, Women and Health, Social Entrepreneurship, Event Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, Partnerships for Development, Training in Life Skills, Non-formal Education, Development Communication, Gender and Technology, and Sustainable Livelihoods for various Institutions of higher learning, Colleges, Universities and B-Schools.
 
Prof. Bijli is an esteemed member of the Educational Advisory Committee of the Event and Entertainment Management Association of India. She is an active member of the Innovations Club hosted by the National Centre for Innovations in Distance Education. She also holds membership of several learned bodies and has developed curriculum at the graduate, post graduate levels and for Ph.D in different universities.
